Description
Composed of 189 pearls of slightly baroque shape, graduating from approximately 10.4 to 4.3 mm., the clasp centering a sugarloaf cabochon ruby framed by 17 old European-cut diamonds weighing approximately 2.90 carats, mounted in gold and silver, length approximately 20 inches.
Condition
Good condition with wear to the clasp's mounting. The ruby, weighing approximately 6.50 carats, is a shade lighter and a more purplish-pink red than indicated by the catalogue illustration. The two largest diamonds are approximately H-I color, VS clarity (mounting permitting). The second largest pair of diamonds are approximately I-J color, VS clarity. The 8 smallest diamonds are approximately H-I color, VS-I clarity (due to chipping). The round to semi-baroque cream-colored pearls bear predominantly rose overtones and subtle green and purple overtones; fair to good luster and minor to moderate blemishing. Please note that the pearls have not been tested for origin, but are likely a mixture of natural and cultured. Fitted with a safety clasp.
