Provenance

By repute:
Schloss Seehof, Bamberg, Germany, the summer residence of the Bishops of Seinsheim
Purchased directly from the now deceased owner of Shloss Seehof Baron von Hessberg prior to 1975

Schloss Seehof, Bamberg:
The Seehof Palace, once one of three summer residences of the prince bishops of Würzberg and Bamberg. The golden age of the Schloss was under the reign of one of the most powerful Prince Bishops of Southern Germany, von Seinsheim (1757-1779). The ecclesiastical state of Bamberg was secularised in 1802, and as a result ownership of the palace transferred to the aristocratic family of the Wittelbachs. In 1842, the family sold it to a Prussian General of the Hussars ("Husarenoberst") named Von Zandt; unfortunately though his heirs had great difficulty in maintaining the palace and its grounds.  Following the death of the last Baron von Zandt in 1951, his widow remarried the Baron von Hessberg in 1956 and began to gradually sell off the palaces inventory.

Condition

In overall very good condition. A rare model. Old minor marks chips and scratches to the top. Minor dents and warping to silver gallery. Some minor replacements to silver mounts. Very nice detail to shading on silver.
