Catalogue Note

These prints were originally part of an illustrated book Baron d'Eisenberg made describing the art of the cavaliers and depicting the different breeds of horses which have inspired the pietre dure plaques, offered here as lots 21 and 22. The Roman numerals in the top right corner of the print correspond to Roman numeral incised at the back of the pietra dura plaques. The engraver of these plates was Bernard Picart.
