the scroll-molded front reserved on a gilt diaperwork ground with a molded panel painted with a musician and companion after Watteau beneath an enamel clockface, the sides with similar figural panels, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, impressed numeral 28.
Condition
The clockcase has been extensively restored. Originally there was a figure at the top of the case which is now missing and there is associated restoration in the area where the figure sat, which includes some made-up elements of the molded scrollwork. Minor restored chips to the applied flowers and leaves at the front. Restoration to the turquoise leaves and molded scrollwork on the front. Two feet are restored and probably partially or entirely made-up. The entire case has been oversprayed which may conceal further cracks and and restored chips.
