Catalogue Note
Bien que le poinçon de maître soit illisible, le travail des émaux est très semblable à celui des boîtes montées par Jean-François Delanoy. Delanoy était le fils d'un maître et membre de cette grande famille d'orfèvres parisiens dont cinq au moins sont recensés comme sertisseurs. Il insculpa son poinçon en 1785, aplegé par N.J.Maugier et s'installa, d'après les registres, rue Saint-Martin et rue Saint-Denis jusqu'en 1793. Des modèles de son travail combinant panneaux d'émail translucide, peintures en grisailles et paillons d'ornements sont illustrés dans le livre de Grandjean/Piacenti/Truman/Blunt, The James A. Rothschild Collection at Waddesdon Manor: Gold Boxes and Miniatures of the Eighteenth Century, Fribourg, 1975, no. 58. Voir également Christie's London, 10 June 2008, lot 105.
