Catalogue Note

This fine table, with its beautifully figured top and elegantly designed fluted legs, shares characteristics of the work of Thomas Chippendale, especially in the inlay to the tops of the legs.  A George III kingwood and marquetry collector's cabinet on stand, attributed to Thomas Chippendale, with similarly inlaid roundels to the frieze and tops of tapering fluted legs was sold, Christie's, London, 50 Years of Collecting: The Decorative Arts of Georgian England, May 14, 2003, lot 90.
