Description

  • height 28 1/4 in.; length without leaves 9 ft. 8 1/4 in.; length with leaves 14 ft. 4 1/4 in.; width 4 ft.

Together with two associated leaves.  Alterations to central pedestal and top.

Condition

Overall fair condition; the central pedestal associated and separated from the top which is in two parts and with later blocks to secure itself to the pedestal; the pedestal with a later bearers which lock into the two board top; the pedestal with an old repaired break to the base of the stem a join with one leg; tops of three legs with old repaired breaks; the two-panel top now separated and in two panels and showing shadow where previous bearers were attached, each panel fitted with later blocks to fit and lock in the pedestal and with swiveling blocks to support the leaves; one edge to each with three half-butterfly patches which meet up with the panels are joined together; metal clips later; the two panels each with a large circular black staining and perishing to the finish probably due to candlesticks. One end with minor nicks and wear to the reeded edges; scratch to on corner; some light surface scratches and stains overall; the underside of the top with three screw holes near one end and with a pair of infilled screw holes flanking the bearers; the square support to the top of the stem veneered with flame-figured mahogany and with long infilled age cracks to the tops and sides and marked LA37841/22 to the underside; legs and stem with typical old scuffs and bruises and with remnants of a black staining in some places. The other end pedestal with minor nicks and wear to the reeded edges and with some infilled bruises and small stains to the top; the underside of top with two screw holes above the brass mechanism and with a pair of infilled screw holes flanking the bearers; two small screw holes to one edge above one clip holder; clip holders replaced; the square support to the top of the stem veneered with flame-figured mahogany and with long infilled age cracks to the tops and one side; bearer to the interior edge of the top has a diagonal cut possibly to remove it and now has been re-attached; old repaired break to the base of the pedestal at join with one leg; the legs and stem with typical old scuffs and bruises and with remnants of a black staining in some places. The associated leaves each made with two panels and each with added reeded molding to the edges; later clip holders; the tops darker in color than the tops to the ends and the top to the center. Overall with some old marks, scratches scuffs and bruises.
