Barbara Blackman has confirmed that the the Queenslander house in this painting was her mother's house where she and Charles Blackman stayed in 1952. The floating bald head recalls John Yule, their poet friend who lived nearby in Spring Hill.

We are most grateful to Felicity St. John Moore for her assistance in cataloguing this work.
