Catalogue Note
This tall case clock is quite possibly the product of John B. Ketterer(1796-1864) the renown tinsmith of Buck County, Pennsylvania.
Ketterer is most well known for his elaborately punched coffee pots who bear his name on their handles. He was born in Baden, Germany and presumably, as according to Donald Fennimore, he immigrated to Pennsylvania as an adult. This clock may have been one of the first items he made while in America. For more information on Ketterer see Donald Fennimore, Iron at Winterthur, (Winterthur, DE: The Henry Francis du Pont Winterthur Museum, 2004), pp. 368-70, no. 185.
