The shade with approximately 80-90 cracks to the glass scattered throughout. A few of the tiles have multiple cracks with some associated small chip losses, notably to the granite "wing" glass, which would benefit from being stabilizing. Four pieces of "wing" glass to the dragonflies have been replaced which is evident upon inspection of the interior of the shade. One dragonfly with replaced glass to the upper body, head and eyes, with associated re-leading around these areas. There is separation to the adjacent leading and bronze overlays where the wings intersect on two dragonflies that would benefit from being stabilized. There is some surface soiling to the shade, particularly in the recessed contours of the decorative bronze overlays, which would benefit from a sensitive cleaning. The base displays an exceptional reddish-brown and green mottled patina with light rubbing and minor wear consistent with age and gentle use. The period finial that possesses a rich conforming patina. One screw to underside of the base plate is lacking. The socket covers appear to be original and the interior sockets have been replaced for European use. The Bakelite socket switches are lacking. The replaced cord appears to be collecting inside the interior of the base which is preventing the telescopic action from achieving its lowest position. The cord would benefit from adjustment or replacement to correct this minor issue. The shade displays a particularly saturated and striking range of glass, and would greatly benefit from sensitive restoration.
