Condition
Overall in very good condition. The wood surfaces appear to retain their original finish, displaying exceptionally rich color. The wood surfaces throughout with some occasional surface scratches, abrasions and edge losses consistent with age and use. The interior side of the footboard has a very old rectangular oak patch (probably executed at the Craftsman Workshops, approximately 1 x 5/16 inch) to the bottom right corner of one of the vertical framing elements just above the bottom rail. This patch is not overtly apparent, as it identical in color and blends in well. One of the side rails has a series of vertical linear gauge marks (3 x 1 ½ inch area) on the interior side (which is concealed when the bed is assembled with a mattress). With four metal castors, which appear to be original (not shown in catalogue illustration), which show surface wear from age and use. This bed is accompanied by five contemporary wood slats which are designed to run in between the side rails to provide support beneath the mattress. This is the only known example known to date of this rare bed design in full size.
