Provenance: Anonymous sale, Amsterdam, Christie's, 6 May 2008, lot 165. Exhibited: Den Bosch, Noordbrabants Museum, Meesters en molens: van Rembrandt tot Mondriaan, 27 January - 28 May 2007, no. 75. Literature: Ch. Dumas and L. Endelijk (eds.), Meesters en molens: van Rembrandt tot Mondriaan, exhibition catalogue, Zwolle, 2007, under no. 75, pp. 11-2, 126-7, reproduced pp. 126-7. Condition report: The canvas has an effective, slightly firm relining. No major damages are apparent and the paint surface seems to be in good condition. A few scattered retouched paint losses can be observed in the centre in the sky. Inspection under UV light reveals a few additional small retouchings in the sky and strengthening in the houses and figures. The paint surface is under a clear layer of varnish. Offered in a decorative gilt wood frame in good condition.
