TWO GEM-SET AND DIAMOND VANITY CASES, 1940s

Comprising: a rectangular polished case, the sides set with calibré-cut emeralds and baguette diamonds, opening to reveal a mirrored compartment with compact and lipstick, measurements approximately 70mm x 53mm x 11mm, numbered; together with a fluted case highlighted with calibré-cut rubies and single-cut diamonds,opening to reveal a mirrored compartment and a retractable lipstick, measurements approximately 72mm x 45mm x 12mm, numbered.

Emerald and diamond case: Stamped 750 for 18 carat gold and numbered 63681. Weighing approximately 176.2 grams. Emeralds a light slightly yellowish green, well matched, some with surface reaching cavities and chips. Diamonds bright and lively. Light scratches consistent with wear. Ruby and diamond case: Stamped 14k for 14 carat gold and numbered 2098. Pat No 2060466. Weighing approximately 122.7 grams. Engraved with the initials F.M.S 8.12.39 to the interior. Lipstick slides out and acts as the lock to close the case. Central panel lifts out for powder. Light scratches consistent with wear. Both cases in good conditon.
