GOLD AND HARD STONE DEMI-PARURE, 1850s

Description

Comprising: a brooch/pendant; centring on a cameo depicting a woman carrying a basket, encircled with half pearls and a rope work border; together with  a pair of earrings of similar design each depicting an angel; one representing faith and hope with the attribute of an anchor, the second, resurrection and life with an overflowing amphora and a cup, hook fittings.


Condition

Inscribed J or F. Zignani, Engraver Rome to reverse of brooch/pendant. Gold throughout with scratches consistent with age and wear, slight tarnish to reverse. Earrings possibly converted later from another jewel. Half pearls vary in colour, well matched in size. In good condition.
