Description

Of textured organic design accented with baguette, brilliant- and single-cut diamonds, length approximately 740mm,detachable fox tail link chain, not illustrated, maker's marks, British hallmarks for London, 1977.

Condition

Stamped 750 for 18 carat gold. Estimated total diamond weight approximately 3.00 - 3.20 carats, bright, lively stones. Pendant weighing approximately 41.7 grams. Necklace very flexible. In very good condition. Ernest Blythe worked in partnership with Frances Beck in a small studio in Shepherds Market from 1966 together they won the De Beers Diamond International Award in 1968 and 1973. They were very interested in surface textures and they felt that a piece of jewellery should be sufficiently bold to create an immediate impact. They also favoured chunks of semi-precious stones highlighted with small diamonds. Ernest Blythe trained at Central School of Art and Design and then worked for a short time in Andrew Grima's workshop. Frances Beck studied at the Glasgow School of Art.
