Catalogue Note
Jean-Joseph Chapuis (1765 - 1864), received master circa 1796. Active in Brussels, he established himself in the Rue de Borgval. He figured in the Almenachs du Commerce of the Empire period until 1824 and worked closely with his Parisian colleagues. Two almost identical tables stamped Chapuis were sold at Christie's London, one 15 June 1995, lot 84, and another lot 14 December 2000. An identical example stamped Chapuis was sold at Sotheby's London on 9 June 2004, lot 154
