- 73cm. high, 169cm. wide, 86cm. deep; 2ft. 4¾in., 5ft. 6½in., 2ft. 8¾in.
in Jacobean manner, one drawer fitted with stationary divisions and a pair of lidded compartments, with a pair of cupboard doors to the reverse enclosing three compartments each with an adjustable shelf, stamped GILLOWS LANCASTER, the locks stamped CHUBB& SON/MAKERS TO HER MAJESTY/57 ST PAUL`S CHYD LONDON, numbered variously 177342-4 and 277170--2, 4,7
Condition
This desk is in `country house' condition. The leather is worn and stained. There are old marks and scratches to it all-over. The crossbanded top has age cracks. The sides also have some cracks. Minor losses to bead moulding on the back. One castor is uneven and will need attention. The base is rather scuffed. There are minor losses to carving throughout. The lock to the cupboard doors at the back will need attention.
