Catalogue Note

The arms are those of Quin impaling Spencer-Churchill [sic] for Lord George Taylour, who was born on 10 March 1792, the younger son of Thomas, 1st Marquess of Headfort by his wife Mary, only daughter and heir of George Quin of Qinsborough, co. Clare, by his wife Mary, daughter of Sir Henry Cavendish, 1st Bt. Lord George, who assumed the surname of Quin in 1813, married firstly on 14 April 1814 Lady Georgiana ('Gin') Charlotte (d. 1823), second daughter of George John, 2nd Earl Spencer by his wife Lavinia, eldest daughter of the 1st Earl of Lucan, by whom he had two sons and two daughters; and secondly on 9 December 1847 Louisa Mary Isabella (d. 1872), eldest daughter of Sir John Ramsden, 4th Bt. Lord George Quin died at his London mansion, 15 Belgrave Square at the age of 95 on 6 February 1888.

The arms of Spencer-Churchill appear to have been engraved on these items in error for those of Spencer.
