Description

of bucket shape, the body of broad cylindrical body rising from three bracket feet to broad rim set with two rectangular tabs joined by a rectangular handle, painted to the front face in rich cobalt-blue tones with a river landscape scene from the Red Cliffe poem,  the reverse with a rectangular panel enclosing a thirty-two line calligraphic inscription, the interior with a crayfish medallion encircled by shoals of fish

Condition

The jar is in fair overall condition with the exception of a shallow 5cm wide rim chip, a rivetted old repair to a break across the bottom of one tab and a break across the join between the handle and other tab, and rim fritting.
