the figure holding a small scroll in his left hand, wearing a peaked hat and loose-fitting robes, seated on a rockwork base, impressed He Chaozong mark

Condition

This impressive figure is in good overall condition with the exception of some overpainting around the neck (possibly suggesting the head may have become detached), a 10 x 5mm., triangular section of repair to the rockwork at the lower rear edge and associated hairline bruise line, restoration to the tips of the fingers on the left hand, characteristic firing cracks to the interior (five of which are visible externally and extend approx 1cm. up from the base) and minor firing and glaze imperfections.
