Description

finely and deeply carved with a continuous landscape with scholars seated amongst rocks, wutong, bamboo and a pavilion, the scene flanked by pine trees and rocky outcrops

Condition

This finely carved brushpot is in fair overall condition with the exception of: a full length 1mm., wide vertical age crack to the rear; a circa 10cm., long hairline age-crack running in an L-shape down from the rim; a 5.5cm., long 1mm., wide age crack running down from the rim with an associated 5 x5 mm., rim flake; a 2cm., and a 3cm., age crack rising from the base; an 8mm., diam apeture to the base with an associated 6cm., hairline crack; several minor vertical age cracks around the rim; loss to a section of high relief carving (to the right of the two seated figures) and very minor staining and scratches to the interior.
