Description

well carved and hollowed, the beast crouching on all fours with head raised looking straight ahead, the mane and tail lightly incised, the cover carved as a recumbent beast, inscribed shuijin zhi bao

Provenance

Acquired in Paris, 1959.

Condition

With the exception of minute nibbles to the mane and edges of the carving, a 3mm flake to the tail of the beast on the cover, and light overall scratches to the surface, this piece is in very good condition.
