Description
carved in high relief, the large circular moon rising amidst bats in flight and ruyi-head cloud scrolls from a base of tumultuous foaming waves, the front face carved in low relief with a standing cockerel, the stone of pale greyish-white tone with caramel inclusions

Acquired in Paris, 1963.
Condition
With caramel-coloured inclusions and russet veins, the present piece is in excellent condition apart from occasional minute nibbles to the edges of the carving.
