  • A Marble Relief Panel of the Young Dionysos
  • 25 3/4 by 15 1/8 in. 65.4 by 38.4 cm.
from a quadrangular Dionysiac altar, carved in relief within a molded frame with a figure of young Dionysos, a panther seated by his feet, the god leaning on a column and holding a rustic staff, a kantharos in the left hand, a himation or animal skin falling from the left shoulder, his hair surmounted by a deeply undercut wreath of ivy leaves andf berries.

Condition

Good and as shown, figure well preserved with areas of dark incrustation, minor chips along outer edges of molded frame.
