  • An Egyptian Wood Applique
  • Height from base 6 5/16 in. 16 cm.
in the form of a seated god holding a fragmentary was-scepter, and wearing a long enveloping garment, ribbed beard, and tripartite wig once surmounted by a headdress; remains of gesso.

Dikran Khan Kelekian, inv. no. 6935, sold between 1935 and 1940
German private collection, acquired circa 1970

Condition

good and as shown and described; note that headdress is missing, and that there are checks in the wood behind the feet, leg, and knee. The fingers, nose, and beard with minor abrasion.

The object is mounted on a French 1920s/1930s base; on the back is a Kelekian label with cut corners and red border inscribed "6935/KHO."
