Colour:
The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate although the overall tonality is softer and more vibrant in the original. The catalogue illustration also fails to convey the reflective quality of the gold leaves.
Condition:
This work is in very good condition. There are some minor unobtrusive surface imperfections probably inherent to the artist's choice of medium and working process. There is a fine network of stable craquelure to the white pigment in the lower left quadrant. There is a minute indentation adjacent to the centre of the right edge, only visible upon close inspection. No restoration is apparent when examined under ultra-violet light.
