Condition
Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is deeper and richer, with the metallic elements a much brighter hue in the original.
Condition: This work is in very good condition. There are light spots of glue residue in places to both arms and to the back of the chair, as well as to some of the cigarette elements, inherent to the artist's working process. Some of the glue residue on the cigarettes has discoloured slightly. There is a horizontal rub mark approximately 8cm. long to the back of the chair, to the centre of the left edge. There is a further very faint rub mark to the centre of the front of the chair, and another to the centre of the curve of the chair.

Catalogue Note
"When I first started using cigarettes in art it was because I was wondering why people are self-destructive. But it's often the destructive things that make us feel most alive."
