  • 44cm, 17 1/4 in over handles
oval, each engraved with coats-of-arms, crests, earl's coronets, mottos and supporters, cast lions' paw and foliage feet, similar handles, gadroon borders, pomegranate finials, the undersides stamped 116 STORR & MORTIMER

Condition

Some wear and many dents, crests and coronets on covers look as if they might have been re-sited and re-engraved, each finial with losses.

Catalogue Note

The arms are those of Howard impaling Leveson-Gower for Henry Charles Howard, Earl of Surrey (1791-1856), who succeded as 13th Duke of Norfolk on the death of his father in 1842. He married in 1814 Charlotte Sophia Leveson-Gower (d. 1870), daughter of the 1st Duke of Sutherland.
