Condition
"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's.
The oak panel is made up of three planks, two joins, and is flat and well preserved. There is very slight instability along both joins, however. The paint layer is sound although it is a little raised in places along the horizontal wood grain and has been abraded. A small amount of retouching can be detected in the sky and background along with the remains of an older varnish. Overall, in good original condition and the removal of the discoloured varnish would lift the tonality.
Offered in a 19th century ornate gilt wood frame with some chips."
