Description

  • 73cm. 28¾in. high
8-inch dial with shell and scroll spandrels, signed W Garfoot, London, the arch with chime/silent, regulation and chime selection dials, the substantial three train chain fuse movement with anchor escapement, rise and fall regulation, chiming on a nest of eight bells and striking on a gong, foliate engraved backplate, the case with bell top and gilt mounts throughout

Probably acquired by Miles Stapleton, 10th Lord Beaumont (1850 - 1895) and thence by descent.

Condition

Dial in good condition. Movement appears to be complete but in not running and is much in need of a clean and service. Case has damage to upper hinge of rear door and rear door grill, old scuffs, marks and scratches throughout, mounts are dirty. With pendulum and winder but no case key.
