Description

  • shield mark in underglaze blue, impressed P
  • 22cm; 8¾in
the former seated on a rocky mound, his companion standing beside with a basket of flowers, a lamb at their feet (some losses)

Provenance

Probably Sir Charles Henry Tempest, 1st Bt. (1834 - 1894), thence by descent to Ethel Mary Tempest (1869 - 1937) who married Miles Stapleton, 10th Lord Beaumont (1850 - 1895) thence by descent.

Condition

Shepherd losses to the blue ribbon around his neck. Majority of pipe in left hand missing. Some losses to the green strap of his bag. Chip to tip of right thumb. Female - right hand broken off and lacking. Chips to flowers and leaves in basket. Chip to bonnet.
