Description

  • shield marks in underglaze blue
  • 23cm; 9in high
after Boucher, the first as a shepherd feeding grapes to a shepherdess seated with a dog at her feet, the second as a shepherd teaching his companion to play a flute, a dog and lamb at their feet ( some losses and restoration)

Provenance

Sir Charles Henry Tempest, 1st Bt. (1834 - 1894), thence by descent to Ethel Mary Tempest (1869 - 1937) who married Miles Stapleton, 10th Lord Beaumont (1850 - 1895) thence by descent.

Condition

First group - vase on column lacking. Restoration to her left thumb. Chips to shepherd's hat. Firing / haircrack to right base extending upwards, through pedastal and finishing on her chest. Another firing / haircrack on left side of base extending upwards and finishing on his left thigh. Small chip to base. Some chips to flowers and leaves. Second group - vase on column lacking. chip to forefinger of her right hand. Slice chip to big toe of her right foot. Chip to end of flute. Chips to both lamb's ears. Small chips to flowers and leaves
