Cette étude préparatoire est le projet pour l'un des trois portraits que le jeune Maharajah d'Indore commande à Bernard Boutet de Monvel à la fin des années 1920 lors de son voyage à Paris.
Moins connu que les deux autres portraits, le tableau réalisé d'après cette étude représente le visage vu de profil, inscrit dans un cercle. Il est référencé sous le numéro 5 du catalogue de la rétrospective consacrée au peintre par la Galerie Barry Friedman de novembre 1994 à janvier 1995
Condition
Très bon état général.
Feuille contrecollée sur carton. Léger décollement et gondolement du papier en haut à gauche. Effacement du crayon sur les cheveux (visible sur l'illustration du catalogue)

Very good overall condition.
The sheet is foam-backed on cardboard. Slightly lifting up and crinkling at the upper left-hand corner. Some oblitaration of the pensil on the hair (visible on the catalogue's illustration)
