SURFACE: in good condition; a small loss in the head of the chick at lower left; varnish is dirty, tip of upper right corner of panel has worn away UNDER ULTRA VIOLET: difficult to read darks in upper half (dirty varnish), but no visible problems; appears that work was selectively cleaned at one time, as lights are easy to see through and look quite fresh
