    A RAINFOREST SWORD CLUB
    carved hardwood, resin and native string

    A DECORATED BOOMERANG
    carved hardwood, pigments

Provenance

Basket: reputedly acquired from an Aboriginal lady at a station on the Herberton Gorge in the early 1900s; Sword Club: reputedly found in a tree south of Lake Eacham by a ranger around about 50 years ago.

Condition

The basket is in fairly good condition overall, though is broken at the centre at the back where the loop was attached and is in need of restoration. The sword club has had no repairs or restoration, although has damage to the handle and is missing bush string and resin and has many scratches and scruffs. The Boomerang is worn and has minor damage from use in small areas throughout the surface
