Catalogue Note

This painting is sold with an accompanying Papunya Tula Artists certificate that reads: 'This painting is largely the work of Clifford who undertook to assist Dinny at a time when he was sick and unable to complete the work. They have shown the Witchetty Grub Dreaming site of Alyukari near Stirling Station. This is a womens' story but the design is also used in men's body paint for this particular ceremony. The roundels with adjacent U shapes show the women sitting digging the witchetty grubs. The digging sticks are also shown. The white lines show the travels of the mythological witchetty ancestors'.
