Condition

Overall good restored condition; the first with areas of inpaintingto the cresting rail; inpainting and restoration to the central black splat especially to the gilded areas around the pagoda and rock-form outcroppings; old inpainted repaired breaks to stiles above armrests; old repaired break to the base of the left armrest support; inpainting to armrest especially around the hand holds; later stabilizing inpainted strip of wood to the front apron above join with right leg approximately ½ inch by 2 inches; old repaired break to back left leg at join with stretcher; underside of one stretcher and backside of apron marked 25, the underside of the seat rail marked 7213KE and 5764-36 in yellow chalk; age cracks to front of pad feet with scuffs and losses to japanning. The other with chip to japanned surface of splat at join with cresting rail; small chips to japanning to tops of stiles at joins with cresting rail; restoration and inpainting to the gilding of the splat especially to the figure, gate and rock form outcropping; old repaired break to right armrest at join with armrest support; later inpainting to armrests, armrest supports and stretchers; the decoration to the shoe restored; one stretcher with old chip to corner of one block at join with back right leg; underside of left stretcher with an old age crack or split at join with cross stretcher, but stable; age cracks to pad feet; splices to backs of back feet.
