on tall fluted foot, the tall vase-shaped body chased with acanthus and stiff leaves below a collar of oak, applied on one side with a medallion of Poseiden, on the other with engraved prize plaque, linked by grapevine swags, the collar mounted with a frieze of horses in a landscape on one side, the other with Hercules defending Deianira from the Centaur Nessus, the cover with classical borders and stiff leaves below a figure of a jockey on a horse

John Hutchinson had training yards at Malton, and a stud at Skipton, near York. Oberon was one of three horses sold by him in 1795 to Sir Charles Turner, of Kirkleathem Hall, near Redcar, for 3,000 guineas.
