Condition
Overall good original condition. Both the leather upholstery and the frame with evidence of scratching from a cat. The scratches to the upholstery are concentrated to the proper right and left portions of the seat and the tops of the arms. The scratches are shallow and appear more like picks to the surface, but are significant in number. Some shallow scratches to the chair back, more minor than those to the seat. The lower portion of the frame with some minor shallow surfaces. The top of the wood frames adjacent to the chair back with considerable losses and scratches to the top bulbous element. Minor white paint residue.

Catalogue Note
The first series of "Chieftain" chairs were produced starting in 1949 by cabinetmaker Niels Vodder. Many of these early examples included leather executed by the noted Danish upholsterer, Ivan Schlechter. In 1960, Vodder discontinued production the model. Schlechter took over the full fabrication and executed a limited number of "Chieftain" chairs in the 1960s bearing his brand.
