Catalogue Note

Adopting the Eastern philosophy, the spatial perspective of western art is eliminated from the concept of environmental phenomena such as atmosphere, surface and circulation. In this sense, rocks, the sun and raindrops are simplified into Chinese calligraphic symbols that reveal a metaphysical approach of Eastern illustrational space. Lower layer of the canvas is dominated by a series of bleak and dark paints which is used to express the miracle of life. The artist employs this colouring technique to show the blending of Eastern philosophy into his painting.
