Catalogue Note

The present work was painted at Boothby, Cumberland, where the artist lived from the early 1940s until 1959. Winifred Nicholson kept goats during the war and it is thought the painting may have been painted circa 1946. There is a Spring Landscape on the reverse.

We are grateful to Jovan Nicholson for his kind assistance with the cataloguing of this lot.
