Condition

The patina is much richer and more emerald than the catalogue illustration suggests. There is some very minor surface dirt in the crevices otherwise in excellent overall condition. Held on a bronze base by 2 bolts. There are some retouchings to some old scratches on the base.

Catalogue Note

Conceived in 1952 and cast in an unnumbered edition of 10 plus 1 artist's cast. The present cast was examined and verified by David Mitchinson of The Henry Moore Foundation on 23 July 2007.

This is the maquette for the larger 2 foot long, Reclining Figure No.4, 1954 (see Lund Humphries, op.cit., no.332, illustrated pl.97 & 98).
