Condition

The work is on wove paper which is not laid down. The left and right edges of the sheet are deckled. The sheet undulates very slightly across the surface. The paint surface appears to be in very good overall condition. Held under glass in a painted wooden frame. Catalogue Note

A tapestry based on this gouache was made in 1993 by the Victorian Tapestry Workshop, Melbourne. This tapestry was exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, in September 1993 and later at the Australian High Commission, London, as part of the exhibition The Stuff of Dreams: Masterworks from the Victorian Tapestry Workshop. (See Australian Tapestries, Victorian Tapestry Workshop, 1995, cat. no.6, illustrated pp.28 and 29).
