Description

  • height 29 1/2 in.; width 53 1/4 in.; depth 32 3/4 in.
  • 75 cm; 135 cm; 83 cm
the frieze fitted with two drawers.

Condition

The original leather top with extensive scratches consistent with age and use. Most of the gilding to the tooling has rubbed off. The brass molded edge to the top has been varnished and now with wear and flaking to the varnish. Extensively oxidized as well. The whole desk has been varnished several times resulting in a thick coat and a darker color of the mahogany veneers, all bronze mounts and brass inlay. There are many brass bandings missing, three to the top and several more to all sides and legs. The desk also with chips, nicks and scratches in places consistent with age and use.
