Condition
Overall the condition of both bronzes is very good . There is minor wear to the patina of both, consistent with age and a few spots of greening. The head of Edmund Burke has been re-attached.

Catalogue Note
The Irish sculptor John Henry Foley moved to London in 1834 and was made a Royal Academician in 1858. He nevertheless remained close to Ireland and created many prestigious public monuments there, among them the O'Connell Monument, Albert Memorial and Oliver Goldsmith Monument all in Dublin.
