Description

  • height 28 in.; width 36 in.; depth 17 1/2 in.; depth open 35 in.
  • 71.1 cm; 91.4 cm; 44.5 cm; 88.9 cm
each with a folding top of serpentine form the edge with egg-and-tongue and flower head carved moldings and opening to a baize lined surface, the conforming frame opening with a concertina action and veneered in highly figured mahogany with a rope twist carved edge below, the square molded and chamfered legs with fluting and reeding carved on the outer edges with egg-and-tongue ornament and acanthus carved brackets and supported on conforming molded and stepped toes.

Condition

Restored condition, the first with stain to top with some inpainting, shrinkage and minor warpage to top, some age cracks to veneers of frieze, the second with slight shrinkage to the top with very minor warpage, some later corner blocks to front legs, each with later baize-lined tops and with some minor wear to carving and to veneers, originally fitted with casters, overall with some old marks, scratches, scuffs and bruises consistent with age and use.
