Description

the rectangular verde antico marble top on a conforming frame applied with Greek key ornament and with a reel and husk carved molding, the pierced and carved apron centered by a peanut cabochon within a C-scroll and ruffled cartouche within sprays of acanthus leaves flanked by solid panels carved with a diaper pattern, continuing to cabriole legs, the knees with acanthus leaf scrolls and foliate and C-scroll brackets above pendant flower sprays, the sides similarly carved, and supported on hairy paw feet, with an ivorine label inscribed FRANK PARTRIDGE / WORKS OF ART / KING ST. ST. JAMES ST. / AND NEW YORK.

Condition

Overall good condition, some minor wear and chips to edges of marble top, some small chips to Greek Key blind-fret on frieze, the central cartouche with small chip to foliate carving, old repaired break to right side carving of central motif now with later small blocks to reverse for stability, the lower top of carved cartouche of the right side apron later, reverse of frieze with white ivorine plaque inscribed FRANK PARTRIDGE, some minor old worm to inside of rails, back right leg with old repaired crack with infilling, back left and right feet with wear to underside and with a pieced section, some chips to carving of hairy paw feet, losses to veneer of back left and right legs at join with back rail, overall with some old marks, scratches, scuffs and bruises and with small chips to carving of extremities consistent with age and use.
