Description

  • height 5 ft.; width 36 in.
  • 152.4 cm; 91.4 cm
the oval mirror plate within a gadrooned molding, the outer frame pierced with long foliate carved C-scrolls, the pierced crest formed as foliate conjoined C-scrolls with ruffled edges surmounted by open foliate scrolls above pendant husks, the corners with sprays of flowers and leaves above perched ho-ho birds with outspread wings, the open apron similarly ornamented with conjoined foliate carved C-scrolls centered by a spray of flowers and leaves.

Condition

An exceptional finely-designed and well-carved mirror in restored and regilded condition. Some small replacements overall to elements of the carving which are now concealed by the gilding. Mirror plate old but not necessarily original, with some small imperfections overall to the silvering.
