Condition

In restored condition, but requiring some re-restoration due to recent damage. Retains much of the original gilding which is worn overall and which has been refreshed recently on the later restorations. The top has small losses to the edges and small areas of the strapwork, an old lateral crack to the top following the lines of construction having been repaired and re-enforced on the underside with butterfly ties. The frieze has small losses to the carved gesso overall, in particular to the bracket above the left front leg which can be seen in the illustration. The gesso on the rounded sections of the legs is a little loose overall due to shrinkage and has several areas of loss which need consolidation and restoration. The carved gesso to the toes also has sustained some damage. There are signs of old worm damage. A fine table, in need of careful conservation and repair.
