  • 29 1/2 in.; width 27 1/2 in.; depth 16 in.
  • 74.9 cm; 69.9 cm; 40.6 cm
the rectangular figured and line inlaid sliding top reversing to a tooled games board and enclosing a fitted leather-lined backgammon well and flanked by bowed ends with pierced brass galleries opening to wells, the end standards in the form of stylized lyres with foliate gilt-metal mounts and brass strings, joined by two baluster and ring turned stretchers and supported on down-swept legs with foliate brass mounts and with carved paw feet.  Formerly with a sliding workbag.

Condition

With some lifting to veneer of one corner of top, some veneer patches and chips, the lyre supports, stretches and legs grained, one side of each lyre with two plugs, the feet showing lines of construction and formerly fitted with casters and now with metal pins, the gilt-bronze with some minor tarnishing and traces of oxidation, overall with some old marks scratches, scuffs and bruises.
